Walk 5 – A Stroll to Brimham

Length – 3 miles (circular – car share to start)

Grade – Easy

Start Time: tba   Elapsed time – 2 hrs

Description: No trip to Nidderdale is complete without a visit to Brimham Rocks! There will be an opportunity to explore the rocks – as well as to visit the refreshment kiosk. Circular walk – car share to start. 

Walk 6 –  Navigation Skills

Length – 8 miles (circular)

Grade – Moderate

Start Time: tba   Elapsed time – 6hrs (bring packed lunch)

Essential Equipment - Full walking gear, compass and OS Explorer 298 'Nidderdale'.

Description: Brush up your navigation skills with a full day's walk on the hills around Pateley Bridge with experienced hill-walking guide David Shaw. During the day you will explore map skills, compass work, route simplification and the skills and knowledge required for a safe and enjoyable walk across open country away from paths and tracks. Packed lunch and full hill walking gear required (+ compass and map!).  

 Walk 7 – A Pilgrims Way

Length – 15 miles

Grade – Strenuous (due to distance)

Start Time: tba   Elapsed time – 7hrs

Essential Equipment - Full walking gear, packed lunch

Description – Walk in the footsteps of the monks from the Cathedral in Ripon to the ancient chapel of Bewerley Grange, via Fountains Abbey.  The route also visits the dramatic Brimham Rocks.  Bring a packed lunch.  Transport to start included. 

Walk 8 –  Archaeology around Dacre

Length –3 miles

Grade – Easy

Start Time: tba   Elapsed time – 4-5 hrs

Description: Join Gillian from the Iron Age (Nidderdale) Project for a short circular walk packed with interest.  Visit a Bronze Age burial mound, an Iron Age settlement, Medieval iron workings and much more.  We will take our time to explore these remains.  The route is over rough ground, and may be boggy underfoot so wear suitable footwear. Car share to start.
