Walk 15 - A walk 'Down Dale'

Length - 5 miles (circular)

Grade - Easy

Start Time: tba    Elapsed time - 3 hours

Description: A walk around Birstwith and Burnt Yates with local journalist/naturalist Nigel. The walk is circular and will take in river, woodland and pasture with a visit to one of Nidderdale’s hidden gems! Binoculars may also prove useful. Car share to start.

Walk 16 – Guisecliffe Classic

Length – 6 miles (circular)

Grade – Moderate

Start Time: tba  Elapsed time – 4 hrs

Description: Join John and Wendy for a circular walk from Pateley Bridge.  Farmland, folly, moor, woodland and river all in just 6 miles, with some fabulous views.  Some steep ascents and muddy in places.  Bring a packed lunch. 

Walk 17 – Quarries and Mines

Length – 9 miles (circular)

Grade – Moderate

Start Time: tba   Elapsed time – 3-4 hrs (bring a packed lunch)

Description: A circular walk led by Pat, exploring Nidderdale’s industrial heritage from Medieval, via Edwardian engineering to the present day. Includes a visit to the Coldstones Cut art installation. Lots of history but also a very good walk in open country with stunning views.

Walk 18 – A Conversation with a Gamekeeper

Length – 3 miles (circular)

Grade – Easy

Start Time: tba  Elapsed time – 3 hrs

Description: Here’s an opportunity that doesn’t arise very often! Take a circular walk on the moor with retired gamekeeper Duncan and find out things you never knew about how moorland is created, managed and maintained. Car share to start.
